Sidekick and NORD Esports launch community-focused League of Legends tournament

Sidekick, the competitive gaming platform from gaming cafe chain SideQuest, has partnered with European esports organisation NORD Esports to launch a League of Legends tournament.

The Elite500 x Sidekick Nations Cup will be a two-stage event, the first of which will commence on September 30th through a community online tournament. Boasting €1,000 (~£860) and 5 AOC Gaming Monitors as prizes, up to 128 teams can sign up to the Sidekick platform to play.

The winner of the community event will earn a spot in the tournament’s main event, which will see the team compete against seven other teams comprised of European League of Legends streamers. 

Some of the names competing in the tournament include Solary co-founder  César ‘Wakz’ Hugues, KOI streamer Shiro and German esports commentator Nico ‘Sola’ Linke, NORD Esports announced.

Sidekick’s main event will be hosted by Nord Esports co-founder and streamer Elite500 and is set to take place on October 6th-8th. The tournament victor will receive €5,000 (~£4,300). Registration to take part in the event is open until September 29th.

Launched in 2022, SideKick is a platform designed for European players to compete in gaming ventures. The platform’s matchmaking system allows players to find gaming partners that match their play style and preferences, which can range from wanting to play competitively to casual gaming. 

NORD Esports is a relatively new esports organisation that was created late last year. Currently, the organisation only houses a professional League of Legends roster that competes in the NLC, Riot Games’ Nordic, UK and Ireland regional league.

The online tournament is yet another activation that looks to build on Europe’s ever-growing grassroots esports community.
