Baldur’s Gate 3: Tier List of the Best Classes

Baldur’s Gate 3 contains a huge character customization sequence which is typical in an RPG. apart from choosing their race, players must also select their background, classes, and sub-classes. There are tons of customization options to choose from which can become quite overwhelming. If you are wondering about the top-tier classes that the game offers, you have stumbled upon the right article. Without further ado, let’s jump into it and take a look at the best classes.

Best Classes That Baldur’s Gate 3 Offers

Baldur’s Gate 3 features a total of 12 classes and a whopping 46 sub-classes which you can unlock as you level up, earn sufficient XP, and progress through the game. Here are the classes divided into three tiers:

S Tier: Bard, Cleric, Paladin, Sorcerer

A Tier: Fighter, Wizard, Warlock, and Barbarian

B Tier: Ranger, Rogue, Druid, Monk

The above list establishes the classes in an order that can contribute to your party throughout your playthrough and not just through the initial stages of the game. Even though it is possible to re-spec your character at any time, party members play a crucial role in combining their different abilities in order to make an efficient and effective build. They are also ranked in terms of their prowess in combat and dialogue, and their abilities to explore the game competently.

S Tier Classes

The S tier comprises the Bard, Cleric, Paladin, and Sorcerer. In Baldur’s Gate 3, every class has its own advantages and disadvantages. The reason the classes mentioned above rank so highly in the game is because the advantages they provide to the party, far outweigh their limitations.

Bard

Bard

Bard is one of the best support classes available in the game. Traditionally considered as a poet, they have mastered their abilities in Charisma which lets them breeze through the dialogue options in the game. Furthermore, the class also has the potential to perform Bardic Inspiration which boosts an ally’s Attack Roll, Ability Checks, or Saving Throw. It is unfortunate that players currently have no access to a Bard companion, but they certainly thrive when they are with their allies.

Cleric

Cleric

Cleric is considered to be the most sought-after class in D&D and it seems to be the same case with Baldur’s Gate 3 as well. Clerics are primarily skilled in Wisdom, while also having Charisma and Saving Throw Proficiencies. They are also amazing at offering support and healing your allies, especially with spells like Healing Word, Guiding Bolt, and Guidance along with their unique domain spells. They can also wear medium armor and shields allowing them to handle some damage. Shadowheart is certainly the best cleric in the game and is most likely to be the consistent member of your party.

Paladin

Paladin

Considered to be the best tanks in the game, Paladins can endure massive amounts of damage with their primary skill being heavily focused on Strength. Along with equipping heavy armor, they can also use their Paladin Oath to cast spells such as the Oath of the Ancients, and the Healing Radiance Spell, which will heal your entire party twice, making it really appealing during challenging encounters. Minthara is considered to be the best Paladin in the game.

Sorcerer

Sorcerer

When it comes to spellcasting, Sorcerers are the best that Baldur’s Gate 3 has to offer. While using them, players get to modify the effectiveness of cantrips and spells due to their Metamagic class feature. They also have access to Twinned Metamagic, which lets them hit two enemies with a single target spell. Apart from magic, they are also proficient at wielding Daggers, Quarterstaves, and Light Crossbows. If you wish to be the main damage caster for your team, choosing Sorcerer would be a very wise choice.
